Connecting Your AI Assistant to Atlas.md With Atlas MCP

Atlas MCP connects AI assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT directly to your Atlas.md data. Ask about your patients in plain language and get answers pulled straight from their charts—no clicking through screens to find what you need.

Atlas MCP is in open beta—we’re building it alongside clinicians using it in real workflows. If something’s missing, broken, or could be more useful, let us know at support@atlas.md.

Because your assistant is reading live data, give its answers a quick look before acting on them. It’s a fast way to surface information, not a replacement for your own review.

Connecting to Claude

  1. In Claude, go to Customize > Connectors in the sidebar settings.
  2. Click Add in the top right and choose Add custom connector.
  3. Give it a name, such as “Atlas MCP,” and enter this URL: r.atlas.md/mcp
  4. Leave the optional OAuth fields under Advanced settings blank, then click Add.
  5. Follow the on-screen prompts to authorize access.

Connecting to ChatGPT

  1. In ChatGPT, go to Settings > Security and login and turn on Developer mode.
  2. Go to Settings > Plugins (or open chatgpt.com/plugins) and click the + button. The + only creates a developer-mode app once Developer mode is on, so step 1 has to come first.
  3. Give it a name and enter this URL: r.atlas.md/mcp
  4. Set Authentication to OAuth and click Create.
  5. Complete the OAuth authorization when prompted. ChatGPT connects to the server and lists the tools it exposes.

Once created, Atlas MCP appears under Settings > Plugins as a Draft. To use it in a chat, open the + menu, choose Developer mode, and select Atlas MCP.

What You Can Do Once Connected

Atlas MCP is read-only. You can always ask your assistant what’s available, and it’ll give you a current list. Some of what’s possible right now:

  • Pull a quick patient brief before a visit.
  • Catch up on your day in a sentence or two.
  • Check which patients have an outstanding balance.
  • Surface flagged lab results across your panel without opening each chart.

Some Things to Ask Atlas MCP

  • “Summarize my last three visits with John Smith.”
  • “What’s on my schedule this week?”
  • “Which patients have flagged lab results?”
