Fitness devices and apps are great (and easy!) ways for physicians to stay in close communication with their patients. By integrating them into your Atlas.md account, physicians are given a transparent view of patients’ fitness habits. Doing so allows for open communication, proactive and preventative treatment and care, and lays some groundwork toward a more personalized healthcare plan.
Atlas.md offers fitness integration support for Fitbit and Validic. With Validic, we’re given the opportunity to connect with devices from the most prominent players in this market, such as Jawbone, Nike, iHealth, and Withings. It also allows connection to smartphone applications, such as RunKeeper, Moves, MapMyFitness and many more. Check the full list on their site.
Simply follow the steps below to make the connection between your Atlas.md account, and your patient’s fitness account.
How to Integrate with Validic
To capture your patient’s vitals and suggest areas of improvement, you can integrate with Validic. Click the “Vitals and Stats” option from your patient’s chart, click the plus sign next to the Validic integration option, type in your patient’s email address. Once your patients accept their invitation over email, you’ll receive an email notification and you’ll be able to track your patient’s health data.
What Atlas Tracks
Here’s a list of the stats you’ll have access to through the Atlas fitness integration options:
- Growth Chart
- Body Fat
- Glycated Hemoglobin
- Sleep Time
- Heart Rate
- Blood PressureActivity
- Pulse Oximetry
- Respiratory Rate
- Child Head Circumference
Setting Up Fitness App Integration
Setting up your patient’s fitness app with Atlas.md is as easy as sending them an invitation. It all starts right in the patient’s chart. Just click the “Vitals and Stats” sidebar button, and select from the Validic and Fitbit integration choices. When one is selected, the invitation process will begin. Steps in the invitation process include:
- An email is sent to patient with an invite link
- The patient needs to access their email and click on the invite link to officially accept it
- Once the invite is accepted, the patient is taken to an authorization page from the service (Fitbit/Validic) where he can then allow us access to their fitness information
- Physician receives an email notice when the patient allows access
Once this process is complete, Atlas.md will begin monitoring the data provided by the fitness service and display the information in the “Stats” page from your patient’s chart. Atlas.md will attempt to gather information from up to one month in the past, however this availability varies greatly from service to service.
Atlas.md updates the fitness stats for patients on a daily basis.
