Atlas.md can import eligible lab results as discrete data. Instead of viewing results only as a static PDF, imported lab values can be displayed in a structured table, tracked over time, used in note macros, shown as trends, and made available to Atlas AI.
For eligible Quest and LabCorp results, this process happens automatically when lab results are finalized.
How Automated Lab Results Importing Works
When automated importing is enabled, Atlas.md automatically imports structured lab values from finalized Quest and LabCorp results.
Imported lab results can be used in:
- Fitness page trends
- #result macro autocomplete
- #trend macro autocomplete
- Atlas AI summaries
- Observation history
- CSV exports
If a lab sends a corrected result after the original result is finalized, Atlas.md updates the discrete data and notifies the doctor that a correction was received.
Viewing Imported Lab Results
Once lab results have been imported, open the lab order details page and click “View Imported Results.”
From the imported results page, you can view:
- Patient notes from the lab results
- Imported lab values
- Reference ranges
- Result flags
- Related observation history, when available
You can also access the original lab PDF by clicking Download Latest Results PDF.
Please note: the imported results are provided for convenience. The lab PDF is the certificate of record and should be used for clinical purposes.
Turning Automated Importing On or Off
Automated lab results importing is managed at the account level.
To manage this setting:
- Go to Account, then Settings
- Find the lab results import setting
- Turn automated importing on or off
When automated importing is turned off, eligible lab results can still be imported manually.
Manually Importing Lab Results
If automated importing is turned off or a result has not been imported automatically, you can manually import eligible lab results.
To manually import lab results:
- Open the lab order details page
- Scroll down to Lab Results
- Click the beaker icon next to the result you want to import
- Select Import Results
- Review the import summary
- Click Import Results
The import summary includes information from the lab PDF, including patient notes, result names, values, reference ranges, and flags.
You can also download the original PDF from the beaker icon menu by selecting Download Results PDF.
Viewing Observation History
After multiple results have been imported for the same patient and test, Atlas.md can display those values together over time.
To view related results:
- Open the imported results page
- Click the arrow to the left of a test name to expand previous results
- Click More Details to open the observation history page
From the observation history page, you can review previous values, open the related lab order, or view the original lab PDF.
Exporting Results
To export observation history as a CSV file:
- Open the observation history page
- Click the gear icon in the upper-right corner
- Select Export to CSV
Result Availability
Only eligible results received from supported lab integrations can be imported as discrete data.
- LabCorp results received after January 15, 2020, are available to import
- Quest results received after June 12, 2014, are available to import
Results outside of those date ranges may still be available as PDFs, but may not be available for discrete data import.
