USPS Adjustment Fees
USPS reviews every package after it’s picked up. They compare the declared details (weight, dimensions, package type, etc.) with the actual package. If they don’t match, they apply an adjustment fee, which Atlas.md passes directly from USPS to your account.
For example:- Declared weight: 2 lbs.
- Actual weight: 3 lbs.
- Adjustment fee: Charged for the difference.
- Weight discrepancies: The actual package is heavier than declared.
- Dimension discrepancies: The actual package has dimensions different from those declared.
- Incorrect package type: For example, selecting “Flat Rate” but using a different box.
How to Avoid Adjustment Fees
Follow these tips to minimize the risk of adjustments:
- Weigh your package carefully: Use a reliable scale to determine the exact weight, including packaging materials.
- Select the correct package type: Ensure the declared package type matches what you use (e.g., Flat Rate boxes must be used for Flat Rate shipping).
- Double-check your label: Verify all details before creating the shipping label.
What Should I Do If I’m Charged an Adjustment Fee?
If you’re not sure why you’ve been charged an adjustment fee, follow these steps:
- Review the shipping details. Compare the declared information (weight, package type) with the actual package you sent.
- Contact support. If you still have questions or need clarification, simply reach out to our support team at support@atlas.md. We’re happy to help!
Passing On Adjustment Fees
Adjustment fees are not automatically applied to patient or company invoices. If you believe the fee should be passed on, you should manually review and update the invoice for your patient or company recipient.
