Can I Add a Secondary Owner or Spouse?
Atlas Balance accounts are opened in the name of your business, not an individual. You cannot add a spouse or family member as a personal co-owner, as joint ownership is only available for personal accounts. Funds are held with Stripe Treasury partner banks on behalf of your business entity.
However, you can add users who are officially tied to your business. These individuals must complete identity verification during onboarding, since Atlas Balance is required to meet federal Know Your Customer (KYC) regulations.
For more information, check out our support article on creating a new user.
What About Spouses?
If your spouse is part of your clinic's legal entity (for example, they work at your clinic), you can add them as a user with an appropriate role.
If they're not tied to the business, they can't be added as a co-owner on the Atlas Balance account. Instead, you can still pay them or yourself by setting up their personal bank account as an external payee and transferring funds.
Can Staff Members be Added?
Yes. Staff can be added as users with roles appropriate to their responsibilities. They'll have access to Atlas Balance features as defined by their role, but they will not become account owners. Ownership remains with the business entity.
